Radiohead seamlessly merges divergent electronica with rock riffs and melodic interludes, inspiring the listener to be uplifted and reflective in equal measure. Their career highlight, 1997′s OK Computer, has been nominated as one of the greatest albums of the last 20 years.

OK Computer is the third album by the English alternative rock band Radiohead, released on 16 June 1997. Radiohead recorded the album in rural Oxfordshire and Bath, during 1996 and early 1997, with producer Nigel Godrich. Although most of the music is dominated by guitar, OK Computer’s expansive sound and wide range of influences set it apart from many of the Britpop and alternative rock bands popular at the time, and it laid the groundwork for Radiohead’s later, more experimental work. Radiohead do not consider OK Computer a concept album; however, its lyrics and visual artwork emphasise common themes such as consumerism, social disconnection, political stagnation, and modern malaise.

OK Computer reached number-one on the UK Albums Chart and marked Radiohead’s highest entry into the American market at the time, debuting at number 21 on the Billboard 200. The album expanded the band’s worldwide popularity, and has been certified triple platinum in the UK and Canada, double platinum in the US and platinum in Australia. OK Computer received considerable acclaim at the time of its release, and has been listed by music critics and listener polls as one of the greatest albums ever recorded.

Each album on the list finds a sweet spot between artistic brilliance, stylistic innovation, and cultural relevance. You could listen to the Smiths’ The Queen Is Dead hiding under a pillow fort in your bedroom (as Morrissey would no doubt prefer), or it could blow your mind in a crowded bar. Why? Because it pushes a unique vision from the margins to the mainstream (or the margins of the mainstream), reshaping both. Until someone new (a Wu-Tang Clan or White Stripes) emerges to redraw the margins all over again. These records tell us something different with every listen; even at their tiniest, they make private epiphanies feel like public events.

born January 31, 1981

Justin Timberlake is an American pop musician and actor. He has won six Grammy Awards as well as two Emmy Awards. He got his big break when he appeared as a contestant on Star Search, and went on to star in the Disney Channel television series The New Mickey Mouse Club, where he met future bandmate JC Chasez. Timberlake became famous in the late 1990s as the lead singer of the boy band ‘N Sync, whose launch was financed by Lou Pearlman.

As both a member of NSYNC and a solo artist, Southern superstar Justin Timberlake has played a major role in the teen pop explosion of the ’90s and 2000s. Like similar teen pop favorites — who have included the Backstreet Boys, C-Note, Christina Aguilera, Hanson, the Spice Girls, and Britney Spears — Timberlake usually doesn’t get much respect from rock critics (who, in many cases, tend to be very alternative-minded and anti-commercialistic). Regardless, he is adored by millions of fans, many of whom have been adolescent girls. Over the years, the teen market has had a lot of different sounds. In the ’70s, for example, artists like Donny Osmond, the Partridge Family, David Cassidy, and the DeFranco Family were aimed at teens — those were the bubblegum popsters one typically read about in Tiger Beat magazine back then. But Timberlake is part of the more modern school of teen pop, which is mindful of dance-pop, urban contemporary, and hip-hop and got started with the rise of New Kids on the Block, Debbie Gibson, and Tiffany in the late ’80s. New Kids, in fact, were the male group that paved the way for NSYNC as well as the Backstreet Boys and Take That (who were meant to be a British equivalent of New Kids). And just as Tiger Beat (the bible of bubblegum) was obsessed with the New Kids in the late ’80s, it would become equally obsessed with NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys in the ’90s.

Like Spears (who Timberlake became romantically involved with), Aguilera, and NSYNC’s JC Chasez, Timberlake got his start on the Disney Channel’s ’90s version of The Mickey Mouse Club. Timberlake and Chasez were on The Mickey Mouse Club simultaneously in their pre-NSYNC days, and they kept working together when NSYNC was formed. NSYNC got started in Orlando, FL, in 1996, when Timberlake and Chasez teamed up with Lance Bass, Chris Kirkpatrick, and Joey Fatone. Released by RCA/BMG in 1998, the vocal quintet’s self-titled debut album sold millions of copies in both the United States and Europe and contained the smash hits “I Want You Back” and “Tearing Up My Heart.” NSYNC’s second album, No Strings Attached, was released on Jive in 2000 and was even more commercially successful; No Strings Attached went double platinum in only one week, and the singles “Bye Bye Bye” and “This I Promise You” became major hits.

Jive released Celebrity, NSYNC’s third album, in 2001, and after that, Timberlake started recording as a solo artist. The singer had performed live as a solo artist before NSYNC, but it wasn’t until the early 2000s that he actually recorded an album as a solo act. Justified, Timberlake’s first solo album, was released on Jive in November 2002. “Like I Love You,” the album’s first single, became a major hit and was followed by a second single, “Cry Me a River” (not to be confused with the melancholy Arthur Hamilton standard that was a hit for the late jazz singer/actress Julie London in 1955). Now a bona fide star — the album had reached number two on the Billboard 200 — and heartthrob to millions of girls,Timberlake continued his success by appearing on the Black Eyed Peas smash hit “Where Is the Love?” and in the halftime show at Super Bowl XXXVIII, where he pulled off part of co-performer Janet Jackson’s top in the now infamous “wardrobe malfunction” incident. That event, however, didn’t stop him from winning two Grammys that year, and though he stayed out of the studio for a few years in order to concentrate on acting opportunities, Timberlake returned to the music world in 2006 with his Prince-inspired FutureSex/LoveSounds, which featured production work from Timbaland and Rick Rubin, and was followed by a brief club tour. ~ Alex Henderson, All Music Guide

Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” picks up “Video of the Year” at the 2009 MTV VMAs, beating out Britney Spears, Eminem, Kanye West and Lady Gaga.

The 28-year-old singer said, “Thank you. I remember being 17-years-old, up for my first MTV Award with Destiny’s Child and it was one of the most exciting moments in my life. So I’d like Taylor Swift to come out and have her moment.” How thoughtful of Beyonce!!!

Taylor finally got her time in the spotlight, saying, “I’d like to thank all the fans on Twitter and MySpace and everyone who came out to my shows this summer. Thank you so much!”

Taylor and Beyonce hugged both before and after Taylor’s speech.

Earlier in the evening, Kanye West stole Taylor’s thunder by interrupting her acceptance speech to praise Beyonce.

Alecia Beth Moore who performs under the stage name Pink, or P!nk, is a two-time Grammy-winning American actress and singer-songwriter who gained prominence in 2000, has had continued success around the world, and to date has sold over 30 million albums worldwide. She released her first single “There You Go” and first album, the R&B-oriented Can’t Take Me Home, in 2000 via LaFace Records, which garnered commercial success.

Her more pop rock-oriented second studio album, Missundaztood, was released in 2001 and is her biggest seller to date. Featuring the hits “Get The Party Started,” “Just Like a Pill,” and “Don’t Let Me Get Me,” it began a marked shift in the sound of her music. Pink soon followed up with her third album, Try This. It was met with disappointing sales upon its release in November 2003, although critically the album received mostly positive praise. After a brief break from music, Pink returned in April 2006 with her fourth album, I’m Not Dead.

Initially upon its release I’m Not Dead, like her previous album, critically received mostly good reviews, but quickly fell off the charts. Pink’s career was revived in 2007 when the success of “U + Ur Hand” and “Who Knew” caused a resurgence of commercial success of I’m Not Dead.

Her fifth album, Funhouse was released in late October 2008 and was preceded by her first solo number one on the Hot 100, “So What“. Since its release in October, Funhouse has been certified platinum in the U.S. and sold over 3.5 million worldwide. The second single from the album, “Sober” has also become a U.S. Top 20 hit, peaking at number 15 on the Hot 100 making Funhouse Pink’s first album since Missundaztood to have its first two successive singles peak in the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100.

Teaming once again with hitmakers Max Martin, Billy Mann, and others, P!nk is poised to leave another memorable mark worldwide! Since her debut in 2000, P!nk (Alecia Moore) has been widely hailed as a fearlessly talented singer, songwriter and the Pennsylvania native’s genre-defying creative risk-taking has propelled her to global stardom. I ain’t never gonna shut you out

Everywhere I’m looking now
I’m surrounded by your embrace
Baby I can see your halo
You know you’re my saving grace
You’re everything I need and more
It’s written all over your face
Baby I can feel your halo
Pray it won’t fade away

I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo
I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo
Woah…

Hit me like a ray of sun
Burning through my darkest night
You’re the only one that I want
Think I’m addicted to your light
I swore I’d never fall again
But this don’t even feel like falling
Gravity can’t forget
To pull me to the ground again

Feels like I’ve been awakened
Every rule I had you breakin’
The risk that I’m takin’
I’m never gonna shut you out

Everywhere I’m looking now
I’m surrounded by your embrace
Baby I can see your halo
You know you’re my saving grace
You’re everything I need and more
It’s written all over your face
Baby I can feel your halo
Pray it won’t fade away

I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo
I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo
I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo)

Halooooo ouuuu
Halooooo ouuuu
Halooooo ouuuu
Ouuuuu ouuuuu ouuuuu

Everywhere I’m looking now
I’m surrounded by your embrace
Baby I can see your halo
You know you’re my saving grace
You’re everything I need and more
It’s written all over your face
Baby I can feel your halo
Pray it won’t fade away

I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo
I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo
I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo
